Is this project still active, I love Chripy but this is driving me mad as it keeps throwing up these errors?

I am using the latest 2.06 build with VS 2012 and seem to be unable to get it to work with CSS files.

I use Chirpy by naming files like e.g. styles.chirpy.css which then automatically creates styles.min.css when you save the file.

When I try and save the file I get the following error:

Error 22 Fatal error, cannot continue: The method 'ToStringJS' is not generic C:\inetpub\wwwroot\accuwebnew\css\styles.chirp.css 1 1 AccuWeb

Googling bring me to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7691415/fatal-error-cannot-continue-the-method-tostringjs-is-not-generic but this doesnt seem to help in any way.

Doing the same with JS files works fine
e.g. scripts.yui.js creates scripts.min.js

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Seems that console app doesn't checkout minified files from TFS. Is it possible to extend it so it does?

That doesn't seems to be the issue. I checked and all the packages are ok.

The problems I get are related to VS SDK. For example, on the Zippy.Chirp project, I'm missing the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell reference. I don't have any "Shell" only item in my assemblies. I only have the ones that ends with "Interop" (from 7 to 10).

I found the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.dll on the VS folder, under the "PrivateAssemblies" folder. I'm able to build chirpy (had to change the target platform to .net 4.5 because this new dll was built against that), but on the post build, ILMerge throws an error because that assembly now it seems to be private: "An exception occurred during merging: Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell."

Not sure how to continue...

Normally file is empty when error in your script.

Chirpy use nuGet for dll.

Active in your vs 2012 nuGet download.

Tools > Options

Package Manager

Check option "Allow NuGet to download missing packages during build".

I am using Chirpy to convert coffeescript to javascript, it works when I installed it few months ago. But today when I save the coffeescript file, or select "Chirpy minifier file" on the item, a blank javascript file is generated.

I can find the line of CoffeeScriptEngine - started and finished in the Chirpy output.

The another function I using, Chirpy minifier on a javascript, is working.

I tried to reinstall chirpy, doesn't help.

Any idea how to solve the problem?

Hi,

Will you be creating a new "beta" version with all the recent changes included? I tried to download/compile the source but since I'm using VS2012 (that doesn't supports anymore the VS2010 installer type), I can't compile it.

It's also missing some .dll related to the VS console, not sure why because I have the VS SDK installed in my machine (I'm even using it for another project).

I already tried to find/replace the missing .dlls inside the VS SDK install, but even doing so, it seems that the signatures of some methods changed in between...

Have you heard of Source Maps? Source Maps are an idea that has come out of Mozilla for addressing the debugging issues that are raised by *-to-JavaScript compilers and JavaScript minifiers, the problem is that when you use these you ultimately aren't debugging what you wrote.

Please create source map option on chirpy to easier to debug javascript files.

Some scripts need specific minifier options to run correctly.

For example I have some scripts that ';' must term semicolons to run correct!

Please create minifier specific options on chirp config files to avoid incorrect compile!

I just tried again, this time with 2.06 into VS 2008 (and 2010).

After running the installer, when I tried to bring up VS 2008, I got this:

Would you like to remove this Add-in?

I use offline google minifier,but compiler.jar not found in Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Addins, but Chirpy-VisualStudio11.vsi has it.
